Bristol was buzzing on Saturday as England’s Red Roses clinched a spot in the final with a convincing 35-17 victory over a valiant French side at Ashton Gate.

The match was overrun with moments of brilliance, none more so than Ellie Kildunne, who returned from a concussion protocol to cross the try line twice and deliver the exact performances that fans were waiting for. Her first try came early, giving England momentum, and her second late in the match set the result in stone.

France, depleted by injuries and key suspensions, made a valiant effort. They matched England in stretches, especially in the first half, and were rewarded with tries from Nassira Konde and Kelly Arbey. But the French couldn’t quite sustain pressure, and a few missed conversion opportunities left them chasing.

As the second half unfolded, England’s depth and physicality began to show. Tries by Amy Cokayne, Abbie Ward, and Megan Jones sealed the result, while England’s defense held firm as the French attacks grew more desperate.

With this win, England extend their record to 32 consecutive test victories, and now look ahead to a final showdown with Canada at Twickenham next weekend. Despite today’s performance not being flawless, England committed handling errors and allowed too much French possession at times, they found a way to win with toughness, timely substitutions, and key individual moments.

As for France, it’s another heartbreak in the semi, but their campaign showed spirit and promise under difficult circumstances.

England now have one more hurdle to cross before claiming the title: Canada.

England will face Canada on Saturday, September 27, at 4pm GMT, at the Allianz Stadium in Twickenham.
